The beginnings of the Austrian club were initiated by Hermine Raup in 1985. Hermine provided the venue for the get-together of local people interested in Austrian and German culture, at her property, lovingly called "Hero's Haven".
The meetings were very popular and the group was outgrowing Hermine's meeting place. The members approached the Gold Coast City Council and with the gracious help of Councilor Daphne McDonald suitable land was found and the plan for the present clubhouse could be made.
Hard work, dedication by the members and a mutual goal helped to create the new home for the Austrian club.
In November 2002 a large gathering witnessed and celebrated the official opening by Dr. Otmar Koller, the Austrian Ambassador.
The Gold Coast Stock Sport Club and the Austrian-Australian Club are entirely run by volunteers.
